After having braved 1 month full of injections, I look forward to a gastroscopy tomorrow. Should that be inconclusive I face the ordeal of a colonoscopy. AAARGH!!!
(ok, i admit, the latter is not that bad. already had the pleasure in malaysia - not exactly fond memories, but at least i know what to expect!)
All this hassle just because I don´t have sufficient amounts of a certain vitamin "who-should-not-be-named"...
Why such a fuss about a simple deficiency?
"In serious cases deficiency can potentially cause severe and irreversible damage to the nervous system, including subacute combined degeneration of spinal cord." (taken from wikipedia - vitamin b12 deficiency.)
Mine is quite bad, as you probably have guessed. That´s why this doctor wants to understand why I am deficient (and line his pockets simultaneously. I don´t really blame him.). Will have to be checked every year from now on.
The scary thing is that we only discovered this deficit by accident. I was feeling tired, had rather violent mood swings and started to feel sad for no reason, all over a longer period of time. NOT NORMAL(for me in any case!)!
Originally I was diagnosed with iron deficiency, but more detailed tests (at my insistance) revealed that iron was fine, the cause lay elsewhere.
But apart from the above, I feel fine again :-)
Am enjoying my new job and looking forward to a gala event on Sunday.
Still need to find a dress...
P.S. The deficiency has had a positive side effect: I do not feel in the mood for shopping AT ALL!
