Back home, foodless and its freezing.
We were silly enough to leave all leftovers at the parents' place, so now have to live off pad thai. Not that I am complaining, reminds me of my travels around SEA. But if I eat another rice noodle, sweet chilli sauce will start running in my veins.
I seem incapable of buying food in the local stores lately. Always go in full of intent and leave empty-handed. Dunno why. As soon as I start skulking down the aisles I get so uninspired and then leave.
Yes, food or at least the packaging needs to INSPIRE me. Otherwise where's the fun in buying / cooking the stuff?!
Have to drag M over to Hieber in Germany or the Géant Casino in France. Far more interesting, not to mention cheap with the EURO being at this historic low.
While we're on the subject of shopping:
We made full use of the sales yesterday to outfit Dad.
It was high time he shed the memory of his old life (=old work clothes) and reemerged in casually chic attire (= new relaxed classic wear). What better time for a metamorphosis but the end of a year?
He got some really good jeans and cord trousers. As likes walking, we got him some fantastic trekking shoes for daily wear, besides a good pair of hiking boots. All waterproof, of course. Throw in a new coat and he's ready to hit the streets looking dapper instead of disheveled. SO pleased, it was long overdue ;-)
