Into the mystic

My second last night as a unmarried woman.

Ok, technically that is not true.
We're already married. Legally. Went out for lunch with the parents & co after the registry office a couple of weeks ago.

The real event, this HUGE church wedding with champagne brunch and gala dinner is yet to come. On Saturday we cross the threshold to wedlock.

One half is really looking forward to Saturday, the other is screaming for me to grab my hubby and hightail it out of here.

What was I THINKING of having everyone STARE at me for A WHOLE DAY?!
The pressure is awful! People will be judging everything: the makeup, the shoes, the hair, and omg, the DRESS!

If I had a penny for every time someone said "oh, I am SO looking forward to seeing your dress!" I'd be able to pay for our honeymoon (no we are not backpacking... flashpacking maybe)!

Of course it is all about me loving the gown and feeling beautiful on the day, etc.
I got that, no need for the pep talk, thank you very much. Still feel a huge amount of pressure to look good and it is quite unnerving. Especially if you come down with a swollen throat, high fever and the chills four days before the wedding.

Plus my arms & wrists are full of heat blisters thanks to some beautiful bangles I wore on my hens weekend.

(Weekend was FANTASTIC... but sorry, what happened in Paris stays in Paris! I will reveal that I hit my head dancing, exited the club with half my leg covered in blood and we drove around in a limo. Big LIKE :-))

Back to my ranting:
oh, yes there is more: my skin has gone crazy, my ligaments hurt because I stretched them playing Volleyball and my throat is seriously sore.

So I am on antibiotics for the throat/fever thingy, cortisone cream for my arms and peeling/masks for my face. WHAT high maintenance! All for ONE day!

Thankfully I have a good makeup artist and yes, a great hairdresser too.
Luckily my photographer agreed to many black and white pics (more forgiving... I hope) so there will be plenty of those!

Work is piling up and I managed to finish off most of it. Tomorrow I have to whisk off one final presentation and then I can concentrate on the wedding. To be precise, the wedding is already planned to the hilt, I need to concentrate on learning how to dance!

We didn't bother with a course (no excuse on our part, just let that slide) and last night saw us looking through "how to dance" videos on youtube. Gave up after an hour... we'll probably just sway :-)

So that was me feeling sorry for myself.
Feel much better now, having got that off my chest.

Would I change anything if I could start from scratch you ask?
Hmm... dunno....

No, not really. I am really looking forward to the whole day, church, brunch, evening, everything. Just spending time with everyone. Regardless if it rains or shines.

It will rain. Bugger.

Knowing that it will rain, I may have chosen another venue for the brunch, as the restaurant we will be in is ok, but not fantastic.
We were hoping for dry weather and the garden is absolute bliss. They would have served brunch under the trees with the rose garden in the background. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Am very chuffed that relations are coming from far and wide for this event.
Hope that everyone will have a good time. I am sure I will!
