Is it really important to know or even have a meaning / objective in life?
If so, to what aim?
No, am not going crazy, just wondering out loud if this whole "quest for meaning" actually has a point. Yes, I have too much time on my hands. No, I promise I will not go off the deep end. Its a beautiful day, I have nothing to do (it's a Sunday after all) and am in the mood for rambling...
Will my life become fuller, richer, happier if I have a purpose?
Do not know, am not sure I want to know or even care (which yes, I admit, would make this whole post redundant).
All these stories (principal supplier Paolo Coelho) about "discovering their reason to live / finding oneself (is that the same thing?) / gaining enlightenment" boil down to living a "simple life" or/and have to do with religion. Are simplicity and is a deity that important to life?
The product life cycle of a human life is quite predictable:
- grow up (introduction phase)
- find a partner, have children, work, (growth & maturity phase)
- enjoy retirement and then adios (decline)
So is our objective in life to have kids? Pass something on to the next generation (our genes)?
From an evolutionary perspective: yes, I guess so.
And if I refuse to / can't have children? Is there no point to my life?
Ok, am getting bored with this question.
Have decided that the point of my life is to enjoy it to the full and looking back, try not to have any regrets. Spend as much time with my "loved ones" as possible and enjoy this adventure.
