follow up

Had our reaffirmation workshop this evening. Was nice seeing everyone again. Amazing how quickly strangers can form a bond, to the extent that we actually missed our "partners" from the weekend workshop.

Guess it is kinda natural though. We shared an intense 2 days: dove in deep, told each other our deepest darkest secrets, supported one another through difficult tasks and then - poof - vanished! Like it never happened. What a funny situation.

This workshop stirred up a lot of emotions: feelings and memories I did not realise I had. Find that they have been surfacing slowly over the past few days. It is nice to be able to deal with them and lay ghosts. One participant likened the workshop to "it's like taking my 7 years of therapy and packing it all into one fast-track weekend. No wonder we all feel like zombies!"

On the way out, they played John Lennon's song "Imagine". Normally the memory of Carmen's funeral overwhelms me when I hear that song and I get all choked up. Today I was able to think about Carmen and cherish her memory. I saw past the horror of that day / what happened and could appreciate the good times we had. Felt really good about that.

Some of the tragic stories shared during the course made me so thankful (yet again) for this beautiful life I am allowed to lead. Really puts everything into perspective. Not that I am complaining, far from it! Just reflecting and feeling.

My yoga master invited me out to lunch yesterday. He is all about "sincere kindness" and "paying it forward". We had a great lunch in Korea town, essentially one street near Herald Square (34th Street). Can not believe he is already in his fifties. Looks like early forties, max!
The food was delicious, can't wait to go again.
