Miami #2 - Girls weekend

My good friend Tamara is leaving NYC at the end of June. They (T + her husband Dani) are going back to Baden, Switzerland.
Originally she wanted to go to Las Vegas for a full party blowout scene, but that got a bit complicated & rather expensive so we opted for a girls weekend in Miami instead.

We stayed in the same flat as before. It's perfectly located in Miami South Beach, close to the main strip as well as the beach, and really reasonably priced too.

We spent lazy days brunching, soaking up the sun on the beach and going out for dinner and drinks in the evening. Bliss!

And of course no trip to Miami would be complete without a huge cocktail on Ocean Drive after swimming in the ocean:
Me, Elif, Julie, Tamara (from left to right)

Thanks to Elif we discovered a large & well connected Turkish scene in Miami, with restaurant owners galore from her hometown in Southeast Turkey. The food at this one place, Meze Aegean Bistro was exceptionally fantastic!

Dorade cooked to perfection

After dinner we went to the Delano Hotel's garden bar for cocktails. They have this lovely pool, of which one third is very shallow, great for guests to cool off on hot summer nights.

The next evening we went for dinner at my favorite restaurant in Miami: Lido in The Standard Hotel.
The food is good, however what makes it exceptional is the beautiful terrace with a gorgeous view of the sun setting over the bay.

Elif's friend Antonio joined us later and we spent a great evening just chatting until they closed down for the night.

The last night in Miami I hung out with my friend Alex from Dahn Yoga. He showed me their studio and I got to meet the center manager. Unfortunately the Master with whom I have been doing private skype sessions was in New York for the weekend - what irony! Maybe will get to meet her in person some day.
