End of year reflections coupled with friends leaving NYC for good, left me feeling quite melancholy.
Thankfully though, my mood is on the way up again. I am shaking off the dust of 2014 (which was a fantastic year btw) and have decided that 2015 will be even more fabulous.
I will focus on doing what I like and liking what I do. It may also be our last year in NYC, who knows. So far no contracts have been signed, we'll just take it as it comes.
But back to December...
Oli's visa expired mid December and as the US headquarters of his company are based in Jacksonville (FL), there was no option for him to extend his assignment in New York. His wife Vivi will stay on for a bit and will return to Switzerland in the spring. We spent a great last day in Brooklyn at the beginning of December and look forward to catching up again when in Switzerland.
These two are the second of our close friends leaving NY. It does ram home the transience of life and the constant need to keep up networking and making friends in this city. Not that I am complaining, but that is a big difference to Switzerland; where friends from kindergarten may still live around the corner.
Silas arrived mid December for his annual visit and will be squatting here until mid January.
Manuel and I were both rather tired from eventful / busy times at work in December, so we kept Christmas a small affair. Vivi joined us for Christmas, as did my friend, Joel, who was en route to South America at the time.
We had the obligatory turkey dinner, of course. Having starved ourselves the entire day, we attacked that bird like savages. The binge lasted exactly 10 minutes (!) before we retired to the sofa (read: collapsed on any available surface, including the floor) to rub our aching bellies. A couple of hours later we recovered sufficient energy to drag ourselves out to Brooklyn for cocktails. All in all, a quiet evening.

May 2015 be a FABULOUS year!
We rang in the New Year at a secret party in Brooklyn, which was a bizarre affair. The party featured puppets, magicians, drummers, as well as shots of Absinthe... quite wild! All in all a perfect intro to 2015... for this year's motto is: stay crazy!
