Love this appartment. 20min in and we were hooked up with wireless LAN. Fantastic.
Manhatten is still suffering from Sandy. A couple of blocks down they have no electricity, which means no power, no water, no basic amenities (toilets, etc.). Guess we are really lucky.
Some subways are flooded, so we have postponed appartment hunting to next week.
Strolled through our local supermarket last night and were shocked to see how expensive things are! Prices rival Zürich, no surprise there, but USD 10.- for a packet of pre-cut veggies and $2.-for one apple.. I will get my salad elsewhere!
This morning I had my first run-in: with the shower.
Silly girl, how hard can it be to take a shower? Very challenging I tell you! Even Manuel admitted that this device from hell was cooked up by sadistic minds (to paraphrase his words: "how annoying").
In short: I got sprayed by a vicious cold stream and nearly broke a toe by jumping out of the way. Am sure I will come to terms with all 3 dials soon, still.. not a nice awakening!
