Xmas Update

Happy holidays to you!

Had a great Christmas.
We were invited out to our friends parents' place for a healthy Chinese feast on Christmas Eve. Such a lovely evening. All food was home made and they even had my favourite Pandan cake!
(Pandan cake is a very light fluffy green Malay cake - gorgeous)

Today, Christmas Day, we went out for a BURGER! Felt this was the quintessential American thing to do, as we had already had turkey for Thanksgiving (I updated my pics - check out the link).
Went for a walk around the city in a feeble attempt to burn off the calories and decided to go see the new Bond movie "Skyfall" after 20 minutes (it was COLD!). Unfortunately all of NYC had the same idea, so we skipped that and warmed up in a bar instead.

I still owe you an update on the past two weekends, so here is the short version:

- Visited a friends uncle's winery in New Jersey and were introduced to "breakfast wine" (= Sangria) and the owner's secret stash of 20 year old Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon... good stuff!
The wine tasting was very creative and included white chocolate, rosemary and wasabi nuts, with an atmosphere almost rivalling our ex-neighbour Paul Ullrich in Basel.

- Next (or last) weekend we shot out to Connecticut for a birthday party. (No, thankfully it was nowhere near the massacre in Newtown, where that homicidal maniac killed all those poor children and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School.)
We arrived early and received a tour of the local shops Target, Walmart and the liquor store. Amazing how much alcohol they had at that store, never seen ANYTHING like it!
Visited Yale University the next day - interesting to see a bit of "old brick England" transplanted over here, where all houses seem to be made out of sticks (wood).

Now all "food" festivites are over and I am looking forward to Yoga tomorrow!
