Getting in to Los Angeles was quite a smooth drive and we stopped in Hollywood for some obligatory pictures on Hollywood Boulevard.
Next stop was Venice Beach and we did notice the traffic getting heavier, but as it was 1:30pm we figured we'd be safe for a bit, before rush hour fully hit the roads.
Venice beach was a bit of a disappointment, to be honest. We'd expected more glitz and glamour, but found it to be resting on its laurels and rather seedy. So we just wandered up and down the boardwalk and then moved on.
That was when disaster struck:
It took us 2.5 hours to cross LA (the drivers here are terrible! It's truly nerve racking!!) until finally we gave up on the idea of reaching Irvine. We are now in a really nice hotel just opposite Disneyland, approximately 45min from our destination.
LA is quite a nice place, surprisingly green. If it weren't for the traffic..! You need the patience of a saint to commute here every day. Not a city for us!
